Cebu Pacific (CEB) will become the only airline flying direct from Manila to Siem Reap in Cambodia when it launches its flights on April 19, 2012. It will be a thrice weekly service, utilizing one of Asia’s youngest aircraft fleets.

“Adventurous backpackers usually travel by land from Ho Chi Minh or Bangkok to Siem Reap, just so they can visit Angkor Wat, part of the Angkor World Heritage site. Now, Cebu Pacific can fly them to Siem Reap on its trademark lowest fares,” CEB VP for marketing and distribution Candice Iyog said.

CEB will also be the only airline operating flights between the Philippines and Cambodia. According to the UNESCO World Heritage Center, Angkor is one of the most important archaeological sites in Southeast Asia. The Angkor Archaeological Park contains the remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire from the 9th to the 15th century, including the famous Temples of Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and Bayon.

To launch its newest international route, CEB offers P888 seats between Manila and Siem Reap from Jan. 27 to 29, 2012 or until seats last. These are for travel from April 19 to May 31, 2012.

Flights for CEB’s Manila – Siem Reap – Manila route are scheduled to depart Manila at 7:50 p.m. every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, arriving in Siem Reap at 9:30 p.m. Return flights will leave Siem Reap at 10:30 p.m., and arrive in Manila at 2:10 a.m.

CEB operates the most extensive network from the Philippines to the ASEAN region, with 12 weekly flights to Bangkok, four weekly flights to Brunei, daily flights to Ho Chi Minh, four weekly flights to Jakarta, three weekly flights to Kota Kinabalu, twice daily flights to Kuala Lumpur, and up to seven daily flights to Singapore. It will commence its direct twice weekly Manila-Hanoi flights on March 17, 2012.

Meanwhile, CEB also holds a seat sale to select destinations from Jan. 27 to 29, 2012 or until seats last, for travel from March 1 to May 31, 2012.

CEB’s passenger growth was mainly driven by a 22-percent increase in international passengers, which numbered over 2.72 million in 2011. CEB added flights to Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Brunei, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh, Seoul and Bangkok since the start of 2011 to meet travel demand.

The airline flew 9.22 million domestic passengers, up by 12 percent from 8.23 million in 2010.

CEB officials attributed these increases to capacity additions to key destinations, lower fares due to the unbundling of baggage allowance, and the arrival of five brand-new Airbus A320 aircraft in 2011.

Domestic load factoDomestic load factor in 2011 was 88 percent, 2 percentage points higher than in 2010. The average load factor for the year for both domestic and international routes was 86 percent, an increase compared to 85 percent last year. Load factor refers to how full the flights are.

“CEB was able to add 13 percent more seat capacity in 2011, and this translates to more flights for passengers and the continuous expansion of the airline within the Philippines and Asia,” said CEB VP for Marketing and Distribution Candice Iyog.r in 2011 was 88 percent, 2 percentage points higher than in 2010. The average load factor for the year for both domestic and international routes was 86 percent, an increase compared to 85 percent last year.
Last January 2011, President Benigno Aquino III and CEB president and CEO Lance Gokongwei awarded its 50 millionth passenger with an unlimited one-year travel pass.

It also bagged the Budgies Friendliest LCC Award at the 2011 Low-Cost Airlines World Asia-Pacific Conference in Singapore, and bested others with a 3rd Best Budget Airline rank in Smart Travel Asia’s 2011 Best in Travel Poll.

“We look forward to serving 14 million passengers this year. Cebu Pacific will continue to boost tourism and trade in the destinations we fly to, and offer the most innovative travel services for the convenience of our guests,” she added.

CEB will be the only airline to operate a Manila-Hanoi service starting March 17, 2012. It will also reopen its Manila-Xiamen service and begin its first international flight from Kalibo, international gateway to world-renowned Boracay Island with its Kalibo-Hong Kong flights on March 23, 2012.

CEB currently operates 10 Airbus A319, 19 Airbus A320 and 8 ATR-72 500 aircraft. Its fleet of 37 aircraft – with an average age of 3.6 years – is one of the most modern aircraft fleets in the world. Between 2012 and 2021, Cebu Pacific will take an additional 23 Airbus A320 and 30 Airbus A321neo aircraft.

The Philippine Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) has granted flight entitlements to four local carriers, including Cebu Pacific Air, to enable these airlines to offer more passenger seats, and embark on direct flights to Vietnam and—for the first time—to Cambodia.

Cebu Pacific was allotted five frequencies to the Manila-Cambodia route. One frequency is equivalent to one weekly-flight.

The country’s biggest low-cost carrier also got 650 weekly-seats to embark on flights to Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam and 1,260 seats per week to Hanoi from Manila.

Earlier, the Philippines inked an air pact with Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka and Malaysia.

Last week the CAB assigned to Cebu Pacific with two other local carriers the remaining flight entitlements that would service the Manila-Kuala Lumpur (KL) route.

Cebu Pacific was authorized to mount 720 more seats per week from the current 10 weekly flights representing 1,800 seats a week.

The CAB is part of the Philippine air panel which negotiates for traffic rights with other countries. Aside from the CAB, other panel members include the Departments of Transportation and Communications, Foreign Affairs, Tourism, Trade and Industry, and representatives from the airline companies.

Budget carrier Cebu Pacific (CEB) will soon field additional flights to and from Cebu, in time for the arrival of its brand-new Airbus A320 aircraft from the Airbus facility in Toulouse, France.

On Feb. 8, 2012, CEB will add flights from Cebu to the following destinations: Manila (11 weekly flights), Boracay (four weekly flights), Dipolog (three weekly flights), Legazpi (four weekly flights), Pagadian (two weekly flights), and Siargao (one weekly flight).

It will also increase seat capacity from Cebu to Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo and Gen. Santos on the same dates. These routes will now utilize Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft.

CEB will also introduce thrice-weekly Cebu-Kalibo flights starting Feb. 24 and add four times weekly Iloilo-Cagayan de Oro-Iloilo flights starting Feb. 8.

“CEB is the largest airline operating in Cebu, and our passengers have the fastest access to key cities in the Philippines and Asia. With even more flights starting February 2012, CEB continues to offer them the most number of flight options and the lowest fares,” CEB vice president for marketing and distribution Candice Iyog said.

The airline flew 2.56 million passengers in and out of its Cebu hub from January to November 2011. CEB flies the most number of passengers and operates the most number of flights, routes and destinations from Cebu.

“With the addition of the Cebu-Kalibo route in February, CEB offers flights to 20 domestic and four international (Hong Kong, Singapore, Seoul, Pusan) destinations from Cebu, greatly contributing to the access of foreign tourists to the Central Visayas area,” Iyog added.

CEB flew close to 11 million passengers from January to November 2011, a growth of 14 percent as compared to the same period last year. It also succeeded in flying one million passengers each for the months of April, May, October and November, a first for any Philippine carrier.

Budget carrier Cebu Pacific has added more frequencies to several key flights to cope with the spike in demand during the holidays.

In a statement, the Gokongwei-led carrier said it would increase the number of daily flights between Manila and Hong Kong starting this week up to Jan. 3 next year, noting that the Chinese city had become one of the most preferred tourist destinations of Filipino travellers.

This brings the number of flights between Manila and Hong Kong to five a day, the airline said.

The company also added flights to Kalibo, Aklan, from Manila and to Caticlan from Cebu “to accommodate the influx of visitors to the island paradise of Boracay, one of Asia’s top beaches.”

One daily trip each was also added to flights between Cebu and Davao, Davao and Iloilo, Manila and Cebu, Manila and Davao, Manila and Tacloban, and Manila and Dumagete.

As it prepared for the busiest time of the year, the airline also issued a reminder to passengers to prepare to deal with tighter airport security and longer cues as more Filipinos travel.

The airline said its latest internal figures showed that December 2011 bookings increased by 23 percent, driven by a 27-percent growth in international sales.

“We added flights so more local and foreign passengers can take advantage of the holiday season and our low fares,” Iyog said.

Cebu Pacific is the largest airline in the Philippines based on passenger numbers.

Situated in Luzon is Naga, the education capital of Bicol, 377 kilometres south of Manila. Further west is the new destination of San Jose, in Occidental Mindoro. It’s best known as the jumping off point to Apo Reef with its bounty of liveaboards, diving and swimming sites. San Jose itself has an estimated population of only 112,000 people. Tuguegarao is the third new domestic destination, right at the top of Luzon, in Cagayan province. On the east side of the existing Cebu Pacific destination Laoag, Tuguegarao is the capital of Cagayan.

Flights from to Tuguegarao begin on 17 June and run daily, once each way in the early morning. From 24 June, daily flights are introduced to Naga, and daily flights to San Jose commence on 1 July.

All these flights are on the new fleet of ATR planes – so book your ticket now!

Low-fare leader Cebu Pacific Airlines (CEB) will start flying directly from Cebu to Siargao on March 4, providing travelers from the Visayas and Mindanao regions easy access to internationally-renowned surfing sites.

The airline will re-open Siargao airport with a thrice weekly service: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, sparing travelers to the surfing destination a three-hour bus ride and ferry from Surigao City, Surigao del Norte. Cebu Pacific is the only airline flying this route.

Last March 3, Cebu Pacific also started a thrice weekly direct service between Cebu and Dumaguete, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The lowest available year-round ‘Go Lite’ fare for Cebu-Siargao and Cebu-Dumaguete starts from P1,188 and P688, respectively.

Candice Iyog, Cebu Pacific VP for marketing and distribution, said, “The country has so many world-class natural attractions. Cebu Pacific strives to provide ample and convenient access to these sites in order to encourage tourist arrivals and economic development in these destinations.”

Cebu Pacific will further intensify its Cebu hub operations by expanding its Cebu-Ozamiz service from four times weekly to a daily service. The airline will also increase its Cebu-Cagayan de Oro service from 28 times weekly to 36 times weekly, with the help of an additional Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday evening service.

The airline is also offering a Manila-Siargao connection via Cebu. The lowest available ‘Go Lite’ through fare for this route starts from P2,188.

Cebu Pacific continues to be the largest airline operating from Mactan Cebu International Airport. From Cebu, it flies to 19 domestic destinations and four international cities.

Now on its 13th year, Cebu Pacific continues to have the youngest aircraft fleet in the Philippines, comprised of 11 Airbus A320, 10 Airbus A319, and seven ATR 72-500.
