Cebu Pacific Destinations: Cotabato
Cotabato is one of the oldest cities in Mindanao, dating back to the 14th or 15th century when Sariff Kabunsuan, an Arab missionary, introduced Islam to the natives. Be sure to stop by the Rio Grande de Mindanao or Masla Pulangi River, along which Cotabato City is situated. At 182 kilometers, it’s the longest in the Philippines and host to many water sports activities and races. December 19 is the date of the annual Shariff Kabunsuan Festival to commemorate the arrival of Islam to Cotabato City. It is marked by a colorful fluvial parade down Rio Grande de Mindanao, boat races, cultural dances, and a week-long trade fair.
