Now, Virac is a 1st class municipality in the province of Catanduanes. The geographic area is rich in minerals and natural resources such as coal, manganese, copper and much more. It is also an untapped tourist Mecca, with virgin white beaches along the southeast coast of the island, and springs and waterfalls around the area.
