Budget carrier Cebu Pacific has added more frequencies to several key flights to cope with the spike in demand during the holidays.

In a statement, the Gokongwei-led carrier said it would increase the number of daily flights between Manila and Hong Kong starting this week up to Jan. 3 next year, noting that the Chinese city had become one of the most preferred tourist destinations of Filipino travellers.

This brings the number of flights between Manila and Hong Kong to five a day, the airline said.

The company also added flights to Kalibo, Aklan, from Manila and to Caticlan from Cebu “to accommodate the influx of visitors to the island paradise of Boracay, one of Asia’s top beaches.”

One daily trip each was also added to flights between Cebu and Davao, Davao and Iloilo, Manila and Cebu, Manila and Davao, Manila and Tacloban, and Manila and Dumagete.

As it prepared for the busiest time of the year, the airline also issued a reminder to passengers to prepare to deal with tighter airport security and longer cues as more Filipinos travel.

The airline said its latest internal figures showed that December 2011 bookings increased by 23 percent, driven by a 27-percent growth in international sales.

“We added flights so more local and foreign passengers can take advantage of the holiday season and our low fares,” Iyog said.

Cebu Pacific is the largest airline in the Philippines based on passenger numbers.

Cebu Pacific (CEB), the country’s largest domestic carrier, will mark the August 1 transfer of its entire operations to NAIA-3 with a system-wide seat sale starting on July 30 to August 5, 2008 or until allocated seats are sold out.

Cebu Pacific offers as low as P888 one-way fares for its international routes, exclusive of government taxes and surcharges.

Fares for domestic routes on the other hand, are all-inclusive, starting at P699 for routes from Manila to Luzon, P999 for routes from Manila to the Visayas and P1,499 for routes from Manila to Mindanao. Intra-Visayas and Mindanao routes start at an all-in fare of P699 one-way.

The system-wide seat sale is non-refundable and is good for travel from September 1 to December 17, 2008.

Low-fare leader Cebu Pacific (CEB), the country’s largest domestic carrier, will reduce fares for select domestic routes by as much as 35% starting August 11, 2008.

The lowest one-way ‘all-inclusive’ fares from Manila to Mindanao is cut from P2,488 to P1,988. One-way fare for flights from Manila to Puerto Princessa and Tagbilaran is also reduced from P1,988 to P1,488.

Moreover, the airline reduced one-way fare from Manila to Boracay by 35% and other Visayas destinations have been reduced to P1,288 ‘all-in’.

Candice Iyog, Cebu Pacific vice president for marketing and product, said, ”We are providing the public very low fares that will allow them to continue flying despite the economic downturn. We feel that we can further stimulate trade and domestic tourism by providing very affordable travel options to our wide passenger base.”

This is the airline’s second permanent fare reduction initiative after it launched all inclusive pricing for its domestic services on June 2008.

Iyog added, “This is a clear manifestation of our commitment to bring air travel closer to as many Filipinos. With fares very much comparable to other modes of transport, passengers who used to take bus and ferry rides can now look into flying as a viable option.”

She further explained, “Now that our operations have stabilized and moved to the new Cebu Pacific terminal at T3, we are happy that we will be able to offer our passengers a better airport experience too.”

From four-times to eight-times daily

Cebu Pacific (CEB), the airline business unit of JG Summit Holdings Inc., will double its capacity for its Manila-Boracay (Caticlan) service by adding four daily flights starting December 10, 2008.

The airline will use its fifth brand new ATR 72-500 aircraft for the added frequencies, bringing Cebu Pacific’s daily frequency to Boracay up to eight-times.

The lowest all-inclusive ‘Go lite’ fare to Boracay (Caticlan) starts at P1,188. Passengers with bags will just add P200.

Candice Iyog, Cebu Pacific vice president for marketing and distribution, said, “Boracay continues to be the Philippines’ single largest tourist destination and we want to make sure that there are enough ‘low fare’ seats to Boracay so we can draw both local and foreign tourists to this world class destination.”

Cebu Pacific has carried over 100,000 passengers to and from Boracay since it started flying to this destination in late February 2008.

“The additional frequencies come just in time for the Christmas holidays where we anticipate increased traffic to Boracay,” Iyog added.

Cebu Pacific also increased its capacity for its Manila-Kalibo service by 48%. The additional frequency departs from Manila at 5:30pm and lands in Kalibo at 6:45pm. The return flight leaves Kalibo at 7:05pm and arrives in Manila at 8:20pm.

Following a successful simulation yesterday, July 15, 2008, Manila International Airport Authority and Cebu Pacific announced today (July 16) that Cebu Pacific will transfer part of its domestic operation to Terminal 3 starting on July 22.

“We will phase our transfer to NAIA Terminal 3 by initially transferring our ATR operations on July 22, to be followed by the balance of our domestic flights. International operations will also move to Terminal 3 later in 2008,” said Candice Iyog, Cebu Pacific vice president.

Cebu Pacific flights from Manila to: Boracay (Caticlan), Laoag, Naga, San Jose (Mindoro), and Tuguegarao will be the first to operate out of the new terminal starting July 22.

“As the country’s largest domestic carrier, we are very excited to be offering our guests a better airport terminal because this will definitely improve their flight experience.” Iyog emphasized.

Cebu Pacific at present uses the old domestic terminal for local flights and the NAIA Terminal 1 for its international operations.

“This very positive development is certainly something that has been long awaited not only by the airport authorities and Cebu Pacific, but by the traveling public most especially,” said Tirso Serrano, MIAA Assistant General Manager for Airport Development and Corporate Affairs. “The NAIA family comprised of MIAA and the other government agencies operating at the premier gateway are joining hands to make the initial operations at the new terminal safe, secure, convenient for all passengers and stakeholders.” Serrano added.

“We congratulate Cebu Pacific and we hope that they can make both Macau and Bangkok flights viable. In fact, DOT is willing to make the flights even more viable through hosting familiarization tours for media who want to write about Cebu,” Roa added.

Cebu Pacific is the biggest airline operating in Cebu offering 254 domestic flights and 58 international flights weekly; more than 300 flights a week. Whereas, closest competition operate a total of 168 flights a week.

Cebu Pacific (CEB), the Philippines’ single largest domestic carrier and RP’s biggest airline to the ASEAN region, inaugurated its first brand new ATR 72-500 aircraft last February 26, 2008.

Lance Gokongwei, Cebu Pacific President and CEO, said, “We are pleased to add the ATR to our fleet. This aircraft will play a very significant role in Cebu Pacific’s domestic network expansion. It will enable us to service destinations with runway length and strength limitations, as well as mount more inter-island flights.”

Gokongwei cited the airline’s growth in the domestic market at 47% while its international passenger carriage grew by 141% in 2007.

The event was attended by company officials of Cebu Pacific, Manila International Airport Authorities, while the guest of Honor, Hon. Joseph Durano, Secretary of the Department of Tourism, performed the inaugural ceremony.

“We have succeeded in enticing first time flyers to travel by making the lowest fares available all year round. With the addition of the ATRs to our fleet, travelers of varied economic backgrounds, both local and foreign, can further enjoy a country that is teeming with beauty and unique attractions, with numerous islands that any traveler would enjoy visiting,” Gokongwei concluded.

The airline first used its first ATR aircraft to service its five-times daily Manila-Boracay (Caticlan) and daily Manila-Laoag routes starting February 29, 2008.

Cebu Pacific is acquiring up to 18 ATR72-500 regional aircraft manufactured by Avions de Transport Regional (ATR), based in Toulouse, France. Cebu Pacific expects to take delivery of six ATR aircraft this year and another four in 2009. ATR is the world leader in the 50 to 74-seat turboprop market. This fleet expansion is valued at over US$ 330 million.

Cebu Pacific will also take delivery of four brand new Airbus A320 aircraft this year. Cebu Pacific expects to have a fleet of 25 by yearend 2008, with 6 ATRs and 19 A320/319 aircraft. This will be used to achieve its target of carrying more than seven million passengers this year.

Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and Cebu Pacific (CEB), in a joint effort, will upgrade and expand the Manila Domestic Terminal (MDT) to improve its facilities for its increasing number of passengers.

The project will start by February 15, 2008 and should be completed by April 15, 2008.

The improvements will include:

1. The opening of a new arrival area with five baggage conveyors instead of the three conveyors today.
2. A 66% increase in seating capacity of the pre-departure area with the addition of more than 500 seats.
3. The expansion of the flight check-in lobby and security check areas.
4. The construction and addition of boarding gates, holding areas, and restrooms which will double the capacity of these structures from present.
5. The construction of a covered walkway to the aircraft parking bays at the ramp.

Candice Iyog, Cebu Pacific spokesperson said, “We have definitely outgrown the MDT and we are looking forward to its expansion. We recognize how important the airport experience is to our guests so we are happy about this joint effort with the Manila International Airport Authority.”

The airline will relocate its cargo receiving section to pave way for the new arrival area.

Manila International Airport Authority will spend for the amenities upgrade in the arrival area and the construction and upgrading of the pre-departure lounge and departure areas.

Cebu Pacific expects to carry more than 7 million passengers in 2008, 70 percent of whom will be domestic travelers. The airline carried more than 5 million passengers last year.

The Philippines’ largest national flag carrier, Cebu Pacific is adding flights to its extensive domestic network, to cope with demand during the summer peak travel period.

CEB will increase flights from Manila to Boracay (Caticlan), making it 14 times daily from April 8-June 8, 2011. The airline’s Manila-Coron (Busuanga) flights will become twice daily, while Manila-Naga flights will become thrice daily during the same period.

BEFORE YOUR FLIGHT

1. Check in from the comforts of your home or office with Cebu Pacific’s web check-in service through www.cebupacificair.com . Avail of this service from 48 to 4 hours before your flight, select your seat, print out your boarding pass, and head straight to the boarding gate if you have no check-in luggage for a domestic flight.
2. Domestic web check-in guests with check-in luggage can just drop it off at the web check-in counter at least 45 minutes before the flight.
3. Remember that international web check-in guests with or without check-in luggage should still show up at the web check-in counter more than 45 minutes before the flight. This is so you can drop off your check-in luggage and present valid travel documents.
4. Remember that CEB allows only one hand carry bag (maximum weight is 7 kilos).
5. Purchase your baggage allowance upon booking, with options ranging from 15 to 30 kilos. This lets you save up to 44% as compared to paying excess baggage fees at the airport.
6. Place easily identifiable markers on your check-in luggage, and hand carry valuable items.

DURING CHECK-IN

1. Make time for expected long lines at the security scanners, check-in counters and immigration. We encourage guests to be at the airport 2-3 hours before the flight. CEB counters will close 45 minutes before the scheduled time of departure.
2. Those with no check-in luggage for domestic flights can fall in line at the Express Counter.

BEFORE BOARDING

1. Be at the boarding gate 30 minutes before the flight’s published time of departure.
2. Guests will pass through another security check before getting to the boarding gate, so wear shoes that can be easily removed and avoid wearing belts with metal buckles. Don’t forget that liquids, aerosols and gels should be 100 ml or less, and that they should be placed in a clear, re-sealable plastic bag.
